

Born in New Glasgow. He was the son of Gladys (Jackson) Evans and the late Warren Sheppard Sr. Raised by his grandparents, Cora (Morris) Jackson and Hartley Fraser Jackson (they were the only parents he knew).
Jo worked as a very proud boxing trainer. He enjoyed it very much.
Jo-Jo Jackson now at peace, a small man in stature with a will to get up no matter what life threw at him, he had that resiliency factor, loved his gym time and the folks he came in contact with at the gym.... He was inducted into the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. He began his boxing career in the 1960's under Hugh "Sparky" Paris. He boxed as a professional in 63 fights, and was a contender for the Canadian Championship title several times. During his career, his record was 49 wins 12 loses and 2 draws.
Jo-Jo is survived by his Daughters, Donna Cromwell (Montreal), Wendy Cromwell (Montreal) and Carol Jackson (Ontario); sisters, Florence Sheppard (Dartmouth) and Annette Gero (Hay River, Northwest Territories); brothers, Raymond Jackson (Moncton/New Brunswick), Raymond Sheppard (Bev) of Dartmouth, and David Sheppard of Halifax; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; many close cousins; a very special cousin, Phyllis Johnson (the daughter of the late Evelyn (Jackson) Reddick, who was raised with Jo-Jo like a sister)
He was predeceased by his son Noah; Sister Beverly Jackson; and Brother Warren Sheppard JR. (Aka Eddie)
