William H.M. (Bill) Webber, age 94, passed away peacefully at Arborstone Enhanced Care on a beautiful Easter Sunday morning, April 12, 2020. Born January 2, 1926, he was the son of the late Maynard and Stella (Wharton) Webber of Burntcoat Road, Noel, Hants County.
He was a member of Sheffield Baptist Church in Halifax, where he faithfully served for many years. William was a dedicated employee of Canada Post for 38 years and often spoke of his work on the trains, moving mail from Halifax to outlying towns in the province. He worked his way up through the ranks to Supervisor and retired from the post office in 1981.
He and Doreen settled in Rockingham, where he built the family home and raised their boys. William was an avid woodworker and carpenter. In addition to building the family home, he helped his sons with their various home projects such as finishing rec rooms, building sheds and other tasks. He was able to carve intricate details in wood and produced handcrafted furniture as well as two violins which he carved and constructed by hand. He was a man of integrity and a wonderful, caring husband, father and father-in-law. He was the best grandfather ever.
He was predeceased by brother John and his wife, Betty and sister May (Kenneth Fenton). He is survived by his loving wife, Doreen (Fenton), sons Grant and Paul (Bev), grandchildren Jonathan (Katie), Nicholas (Marley), Brandon (Savannah), Greg (Emily), Leah (Josh) and Jackie (Rick); great grandchildren Hayden, Milah, Kasen and Victoria, brother Robert (Della) of Elmsdale, and sister, Audrey (Murray Hales) of London, ON, several nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers in law.
Arrangements have been entrusted to JA Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax. There will be no service at this time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The family would gratefully request donations in memory of Bill be made to Sheffield Baptist Church and would like to thank Pastor Matthew Porter and the church family for their visits, food, prayer, kind phone calls and messages. Thank you as well to the staff and doctors of Arborstone Enhanced Care for their compassionate care of Bill in the short time he resided there. We appreciate your kind efforts to allow communication with Dad and Mom through Skype during recent weeks when visitation was not possible due to pandemic restrictions.
Rest in Peace dearest Dad, you are loved dearly and will be missed immensely, but you are now at peace with your Heavenly Father.
