Charles Eugene Thomas

Charles Eugene Thomas of Gustine, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 19th, 2023, at the age of 67. Charles was a cherished son, husband, father, and friend. He was born on December 29th, 1955, in Seoul, Korea, and was brought to Lanham, Maryland after being adopted by his father, Willie Thomas, at the age of thirteen. He served in the United States Army, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), and the National Guard as a medic. He was recognized with medals and awards throughout his career.

Charles provided care for many people while he fulfilled his duty as a medic. This poured over into his civilian life, as he showed the same level of care to his family members and friends. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and raised his family to be strong in their faith. He enjoyed playing golf and staying active.

Charles is survived by his mother, Jinok Lee; wife, Esther; and children, Charlie and Kiana.

There will be a brief burial service at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, June 26th, 2023, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. All who wish to come are welcome to attend. Please dress comfortably, but respectfully, as this cemetery is reserved for veterans and is located at a military base.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held immediately following the burial service at Jardín restaurant, 555 Funston Pl, San Antonio, TX 78209 at Sullivan Carriage House, where we will be having a late lunch.
