Donna Jean Vineyard, age 86, passed away on March 9, 2026 in Hamilton, Texas. She was born on February 18, 1940, to J.W. and Dixie Nell Meacham. She grew up in McLean, Texas where she graduated from high school.
Donna spent most of her life in Glen Rose, Texas. She loved Jesus and was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Glen Rose. She loved to sing joyfully and was the choir director for a period of time. She passed on her love of hymns to her
family. During her last days, her grandchildren comforted her by singing hymns at her bedside.
Her most beloved job in Glen Rose was being a secretary at Glen Rose High School. She served in this capacity for many decades. She was proud to be a Tiger and would tell anyone willing to listen. She wore her Glen Rose red proudly.
Donna loved to travel. Her favorite place was Pagosa Springs, Colorado and camping by the San Juan River. She hardly ever went on a road trip without getting lost. One of Donna’s beauties was that she didn’t take things too seriously. She loved to laugh and didn’t mind laughing at herself. She never met a stranger and was loved by many people.
Her favorite role was being a Meme. She loved her family well. She would be happy to know her infamous Mo, Jo and PoJo stories are being passed on to her great-grandchildren. She was the best Meme ever.
Donna is survived by her sister, Nancy Billingsley, and brother, Joel Meacham and wife Maria and daughter-in-law, Laurie Vineyard. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shane Vineyard, Katie Foster and husband James, Cody Vineyard, and Courtney Vineyard. She leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and numerous other family members whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Charlie Don Vineyard; daughter, Debra Lynn Vineyard; and brother-in-law, Doyal Billingsley.
Meme, we will see you again one day. Until then,
“We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”
A Committal Service will be held at Glen Rose Cemetery, Stadium Drive, Glen Rose, TX 76043, on March 12, 2026, at 11:00 am.
