G E "Steve" Almquist

Steve was born May 28, 1934 to Gustaf Emil and Fronie Almquist in Austin. After high school, he attended the University of Texas and then he joined the US Army (active reserves). He married Mary Frances Blomquist on September 25, 1954. Sadly, she preceded him in death.

He was a member of Sertoma International for 22 years and worked as the Chamber Director for the city of Hamilton at the time of his retirement.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Riley Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held 10 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Gustine United Methodist Church in Gustine, Texas. Inurnment will follow at the Hutto Lutheran Cemetery at 3 PM in Hutto, Texas.

Left to cherish Steve’s memory is his son, Gary (Vickie) Almquist of Dublin; daughter, Pattielu (Mark) Clark of Gustine; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gustine United Methodist Church, The Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, or Sertoma International.
