David was born on September 5, 1972, in Pasadena, Texas, to Billy Mac Lamb and Elizabeth Louive. He was raised on a cattle ranch by his cherished grandfather, James McKinley Lamb, where he learned early that hard work wasn’t just a task—it was a way of life. Those years shaped him into the man so many came to rely on.
At 18 years old, David began his lifelong career as a lineman, a calling he would devote 35 years to. He loved the work, the challenge, and especially the brotherhood. Over the decades, he gained countless brothers in the field—men who trusted him, respected him, and knew he lived by the creed he embodied every day:
He was his brother’s keeper.
David married the love of his life, Benetta Lynn Lamb, whom he affectionately called his high school sweetheart. Their two short years of marriage were filled with a deep, tender, and unconditional love—a true love of a lifetime. Together, they built a growing farm that brought him pride and joy, and he especially loved taking trips to town with his wife riding beside him in the little mini truck gifted to him by his son in law.
He enjoyed trading vehicles and artillery, tinkering in the shop, and spending time with his loyal dogs, Oakley and Diesel, who were never far from his side.
David is survived by his wife, Benetta Lynn Lamb; his children, Dalyn Richard Wayne Lamb and wife Bethany, and Dezlyn Brooke Ann Lamb and partner Leewayne Barton. Dalyn and Dezlyn were his driving passion in life—his pride and joy, his best buddies, and truly his best friends. He is also survived by his bonus children, whom he loved as his own: Tyler Browning and wife Melissa, Rebecca Browning, Chance Browning, Andrew Elizondo, Alicia, Coy, Cain, Skinny Lopez, and his lifelong friend dear to his heart Michelle Lopez.
He is also survived by his brothers, James Jay Lamb and Brady McKinley Lamb, and Brady’s wife Allisen. David loved his brothers deeply, holding Jay and Brady close to his heart throughout his life. He was a proud uncle to Jaci and Kaci, as well as McKinley, Ruby Jean, Beau, and Briar, whom he affectionately called Abraham.
His grandchildren were treasures to him: Emersyn , Blakely, Walker, and Waylon James, the grandbaby he didn’t get to meet in body but already held fully in his heart; and the others he adored: Ethan, Emily, Maggie, Elizabeth, and Elliot, Raife, Whitlee, Meghan, Nevaeh,
Ava
David lived in many places throughout his life, but Hamilton, Texas, was the place he called home. He often said Hamilton was what a hometown should be, and he meant it with all his heart.
He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, work ethic, and giving spirit. With a rough exterior and a deeply loyal heart, he was always helping someone—cracking jokes, lighting up rooms, and thinking of others before himself. His passing has created a crack in the world of so many, especially in the hearts of his wife and children, who adored him beyond measure.
James David Lamb leaves behind a life defined by love, service, and devotion to the people he cared for. His memory will continue in every life he touched and every story shared in his honor.
