Joe Edward Surley

Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Interment followed at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Joe was born January 22, 1940 in Bosque County, Texas to his parents Christian and Alma Leona Bakke Surley.

Joe married Etheline Lucas on July 28, 1962 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville. After living away for a short time, Joe and Etheline have lived in Pottsville for 45 years. Joe was an asset to the community for anyone that needed an appliance fixed or help in any way. Joe was a founding member of the Pottsville Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by:

Wife: Etheline Lucas Surley of Pottsville; Sons: David Surley and wife Dawne of Hamilton; Glenn Surley and wife Julie of Pottsville; James Surley and wife Tresa of Hamilton. Brothers: Eldon Surley and wife Barbara of Colleyville,; Pernie Surley of Clifton; Curtis Surley and wife Thelma of Plainview,; Sisters: Alice Jeschke and husband Eugene of Hamilton; Irma Wilcox of Waco; and Anna Marie Simmons of Cranfills Gap. 10 Grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
