Laphane was born on August 9, 1930, one of three children to Johnny S. and Ada Marie Walker Devenport in Hamilton County, Texas. She attended schools in Evant and Hamilton Texas. At the age of 15 she married JB Brumbalow on June 29, 1946. After JB’s service in the military, they moved to Fort Worth for ten years where she devoted her time to raising two children. Laphane and JB, then moved to Hamilton, Texas where she was the first manager of the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store as well as helping JB at the Conoco Oil Agency and Brumbalow Motors by keeping the books. In 1968 Laphane and Jesse purchased their beloved property in Jonesboro where she enjoyed working outside and taking care of the home place.
Laphane was a member of the Park Heights Church of Christ in Hamilton.
Laphane was preceded in death by her husband JB Brumbalow, son Ben Brumbalow and brother Jim Devenport.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Nancy Sellers and husband Bobby of Hamilton, daughter in law Cathy Brumbalow of Hamilton, grandson Miles Sellers and wife Gina of Hamilton, grandson Kyle Sellers and wife Kayla of Jonesboro, grandson Jeff Brumbalow of San Antonio, grandson Aaron Sparks and wife Sharon of Spring, grandson Clay Sparks of Austin. She is also survived by four great grandchildren Calvin, Alyssa, Chloe and Brendan. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday May 2, 2018, at Riley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Murphree Cemetery Evant Texas.
