Robbie was born on November 5, 1965 in Hamilton, Texas to Bobby Lee Cathey, Sr. and Coridean Andrews Cathey. She was the third child of five children. Robbie graduated from Hamilton High School in 1984. She went on to obtain her degree in Social Work from Tarleton State University. Later, she became a teacher, and she worked for Clifton ISD and Hamilton ISD. Teaching was her calling, and she was able to positively impact many children who came through her room. Robbie enjoyed teaching in several grades, but she truly LOVED her time in her Kindergarten classes. She referred to her students as “her babies”, and she always made sure they knew they were loved. She cared so deeply for all of her students.
Robbie enjoyed teaching and spending time with her family. She was proud of all of her nieces and nephews, and she loved them all so much. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, and aunt. She was always taking care of others and was a truly generous person.
Robbie married Tom Dalton December 19, 1987. They were married for 33 years. Robbie loved the Lord, and helped to share his love with others . She was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship.
Robbie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alvie and Audrey Andrews, Tom and Corabuna Cathey, her father-in-law, Joe Dalton, and numerous aunts and uncles on both sides of the family.
Robbie is survived by her husband, Tom Dalton, her parents, Bobby and Corky Cathey, her mother-in- law, Wanda Dalton, her brothers, Bobby Cathey, Jr. and wife Teresa of Tyler, Joe Cathey and wife Michele of Hamilton, Johnny Cathey and wife Michelle of Lubbock, one sister, Tammy Wagner and husband Doug of Hamilton, nephews, Blake Cathey, wife Katie and son Koen of Gilmer, Ethan Cathey of Hamilton, Caleb Wagner of Hamilton, Asa Cathey of Tyler, nieces, Sara Cathey of Blacksburg, Virginia, Emily Wagner of Lubbock, Jacey Cathey, Abi Cathey, and Hagan Cathey of Lubbock, as well as many aunts and uncles and cousins.
She had a special place in her heart for those that helped her during this very difficult time. There are so many that gave freely to aid her in the battle. Her school family was such a blessing to her in so many ways. The community of Hamilton that donated to the bake sale and barn sale in her honor is greatly appreciated as well as Uncle Jimmie Don Edwards, Aunt Brenda Gail Edwards, and Aunt Esther Joyce Milloy who helped with many trips for treatment; and Aunt Clara Lancaster, who was her prayer warrior on many occasions.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, Friends of Hamilton ISD to benefit Judy’s Closet (supplies for teachers) or the Kindergarten Reading Library, or The Hamilton Public Library.
