While surrounded by family, Wanda Drue Koonce, at the vibrant age of 83, passed peacefully on October 19, 2020 in Comanche, Texas. She was born January 7th, 1937 in Waco, Texas to Arnold Robinson and Inez Davis. On November 19, 1953, she married her soulmate, Gene Morris Koonce, who preceded her in death in February of 1998.
Wanda was a dedicated military wife and mother who embraced every available moment with her family. Wanda was passionate about her family, friends, community, and her church, Abundant Life Assembly of God. She enjoyed ceramics, crafts, playing keno, bingo, scratching lottery tickets, casinos, purchasing earrings, volunteering at local nursing homes, and baking for her family.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, sisters Lois, Katherine, and brothers Thomas and Harry, her daughters Sue Cunningham, Pat Koonce, and son Harv Dodson. Survivors include her children, Ron Koonce of Forney, Ginger Bottlinger of Hamilton, Bo Koonce and wife, Tammy of Clyde, and Patty Dodson, Nicky Lavender of Comanche, Donna Bryant of Jacksboro, Pam Anderson and husband Steve of New York, and Joe Wilkins and wife Tina of Fredericksburg, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
