

Henry C. VanCleave, loving father and devoted husband, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at his home in Apple Valley, California. Henry was born in Needles, California on November 22, 1936 to Guy and Socorro VanCleave and was the youngest of 6 children. He was 79 years, 7 months and 13 days of age at the time of his death.
Henry attended high school in La Junta, CO and Stockton, CA and after graduating, joined the United States Air Force (1954-1961), stationed at George AFB-Victorville, CA and Minot AFB- Minot, ND; followed by a deployment to Bitburg Air Base, Germany as a dental technician.
After leaving the military, he made a living early on as a successful car salesman before being employed as a cost estimator for jail construction and improvement projects, an industry he worked in for over 30 years. After he retired, he resumed his passion for cars as a salesman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister (infant VanCleave), brother Franklin D. VanCleave, and sister Dorothy J. Smith.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara K. VanCleave; brother, Guy VanCleave Jr. of Modesto, CA; sister Bettie V. Lewis of Tucson, AZ; nine children: Roxanne Hernandez of Anaheim, CA; Deborah VanCleave of Irvine, CA; Cheryl Kalil of Corona, CA; Bruce VanCleave of Oceanside, CA; Sandra VanCleave-Fleer of Pendleton, IN; Bryan VanCleave of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Vicki Miller of Irvine, CA; Bradley VanCleave of Murrieta, CA; Heather Cahoon of Stansbury Park, UT as well as 42 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 9:00am and 10:00am respectively, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12100 Ridgecrest Road, Victorville, CA 92395. The graveside ceremony, with military honors, will be conducted afterwards at 2:15pm at Riverside National Cemetery (Section 61), 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
