December 24, 1987 - March 6, 2025
On Friday morning, March 7, 2025, our beloved Robert, “Bobby,” age 37, was tragically found deceased inside Powell’s Machine Shop, Hesperia, which he proudly owned and operated solo for more than a decade.
Robert Olin Powell entered this world on Christmas Eve, 1987. He was sent home inside of a big red stocking provided by his place of birth, St. Mary’s Hospital in Apple Valley.
He was a lifelong resident of the High Desert and attended Silverado High School in Victorville until he moved with his family to Fontana, California.
He then furthered his education at Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga, where he earned his auto mechanic certificate and eventually opened his own business back in his hometown of Hesperia, and became a respected, passionate, automotive machinist who rebuilt engines.
He is survived by his only child; his daughter, Anberlin Rain Powell, 12, who was the center of his life and his bedrock for all that he did.
He also is survived by his parents; mother, Shelli LoBue DeRobertis, and father John DeRobertis, of Temecula. Along with his father Robert Powell, of Idaho, and former step-mother Eva Miedowicz Powell, of Arizona.
He leaves behind his adoring siblings, Brittany Powell, 38, of Temecula, Dalton DeRobertis, 29, of Temecula, Tyler Powell, 30, and his wife, Anne, of Idaho; and brother Marc Gaupel, 35, of Arizona.
He is also survived by grandparents Philip and Kay LoBue (maternal) of Hesperia; Orville and Lynda Powell (paternal) of Idaho.
He leaves behind numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
Robert’s celebration of life will be held on March 29, 2025, at 12 P.M., at the Hesperia Church of Christ, 9280 5th Avenue, Hesperia, California, 92345.
We invite all those who knew him and wish to attend.
Immediately following his accolades, his celebration of life will be held in the fellowship hall of the church where we will have food and gather to honor Robert, our “Bobby.”
Please RSVP to Shelli, at (951) 514-8058 and feel free to leave a message.
Thank you to everyone who can come help us get through this time of grief. His entire family thanks you, and we appreciate you.
