Allan J. Rodolitz was born on October 24, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from MIT in 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He met his wife Nina when they were college freshmen and they married soon after graduation. Allan went to work for his father’s manufacturing business in Brooklyn right after college. When his father died, he found himself alone at the helm at just 33 years old.
Allan worked days and most weekends building the business. Despite long hours at work, Allan also made time for volunteering. He was President of Temple Beth El of Cedarhurst, where he spent decades on the Board of Trustees and had numerous leadership roles in Federation and UJA. He was President of the International Synagogue at JFK Airport and was a Trustee of the Long Island Jewish Hospital (Northwell).
Allan loved bowling, tennis, and then golf. He was a long time member of the Inwood County Club. He and Nina joined Boca West County Club more than 30 years ago and recently moved there full time. Allan was a Rangers fanatic. He conveyed a love of hockey to his children and grandchildren, although some of them transferred their loyalties to other teams. The rivalries kept family texts lively. He also enjoyed bridge, music, theater, and traveling.
Allan had a great appetite for life (and for food). He treasured his family and the holidays that brought everyone together. His singing of songs after seder was legendary. Allan will be remembered for his love for his family, his enthusiasm for life, his strong opinions, and his sly sense of humor.
Allan is survived by his wife Nina, his sister Lynda, his children Deedee (Jeremy), Naomi and Jeff and his partner Stacey; his grandchildren Aryeh (Ari), Gabe, Ben, Jay, Lauren and Sarah, and great grandchildren Jonah and Ruah.
