Words cannot fully express how sad we are that the amazing spirit, presence and light that Barbra emitted has been extinguished.  I have known Barbra since 1974, at Woodmere Academy, when she would walk my pre-K class from the playground to the classroom . Over the years, I would see her at the "8" and "3" class reunions.  Her dedication to the school and the camp was unparalleled. I will be forever grateful to her for the way she created a camp program that changed my son's life. A non-athlete, having the chance to explore the arts - on stage and through trips - gave my son a place where he belonged. Andrew mentoring him in rehearsals gave him a love of theatre that continues to this day. She touched many lives and our loss will never equal that of the Barth and Feldman families, but her Woodmere Academy family now has a hole that won't soon be filled.

Barbra knew how difficult it is to render me speechless. But right now, I struggle to find the words. Nothing I say could do Barbra justice. I've never met anyone quite like her. She was radiant, wise and fiercely loyal. She touched so many lives. My heart goes out to her loved ones. I know I speak for so many when I say I will miss her dearly.

I am devastated by this great loss yet I feel grateful that Barbra's time on this earth collided with mine.  She truly changed my life. Barbra was the first call I made after I opened the acceptance letter to my dream school. She made strangers feel like family. 

She was so supportive, genuine and dedicated. I owe so much to her. Barbra always believed in me, even when I doubted myself. She helped me build the confidence to pursue my dreams. I wouldn't be where I am today without her support and mentorship.  I will forever be grateful to have known her. 

Barbra, you were unlike anyone I've ever known and ever will know.  I hope to make you very proud. Thank you for everything.



I first met Barbra Barth Feldman at the age of six. Her son and I had become friends. I spent a large portion of my elementary and middle school years at the Feldman household, or in the backseat of her white van, or in her office upstairs, near the library mezzanine. In those years she became a source of stability for my family. She was who we went to with anything concerning school or camp. If I missed my bus (as I often did) I'd 
walk right to her office, a bit embarassed. 

My first sleepover ever was at her house, and it was kind of terrifying. Beyond the inherent jitters a new experience can bring a young child, in the bathroom there was this one branch by the window that in the night kind of looked like a claw, and the wind made it scrape against the glass. Walking back to the room, I saw her walking in the hallway and jumped a bit. I can't remember exactly what she said, but it instantly did away with any fear I had. The warmth in her voice, which could be felt even in her whisper while the wind blew, made me feel like I was still at home. Is there any better mother than one whose love can be felt by any child around her?

Her competence, her compassion, and her willingness to give have helped mold me, and I'm sure hundreds of students and alumni feel the same way. The words "Adrian, Sweetie" ring in my head from time to time. I've called her "Mom" by accident a few too many times to count. There are few people that could make someone feel as safe as her.  There are few people that have done as much for their community as her. I can tell you that Long Island and beyond are hurting right now, but in so many ways she is still right here.

I am forever grateful for Barbra and all of the love, support, and words of wisdom she has provided me with over the past 10 years --  first as a CIT at LWASD, then as a prospective college freshman, and now as a young adult. Whether it was working with a fussy camper or coming up with a game plan to tackle college admissions, she always had a plan or a solution in place --  for everything. 

Because of her, I've graduated from my dream school in my dream career. I am eternally grateful for all that she has done for me and countless others.  She has directly shaped and impacted my life for the better, and I feel so lucky to have been close with such a phenomenal person. 

 I miss her deeply already. 

Barbra was a rock.  She was LWA.  I had the pleasure of knowing her and then working with her as we transitioned LWA onto its current path.  Her boundless energy was inspirational.  She never tired in her efforts to improve and enhance the LWA experience for all who attended whether it was as head of summer day or head of school.  She will be missed.  

Dear Barbra,  I was just coming to NY this week to meet you and catch up from a year long of separation. We have so much in common and above all such an understanding  of what each on is going trough in our lives.  The biggest joy recently for me was to know that Andrew was going to fulfill his dream of being an actor.  I was so happy for the two of you. Because for me, you have been the best Mom there ever was. We've known each other for 30 years and you always managed to impress me more and more. You were such a giving person, such a caring person. I don't understand why a mensch like you has to go . Because you were a mensch. And I was so blessed to have spend those years with you, to have known you.

I am so sorry to hear about Barbra’s passing.    I first met her during her freshman year at Brandeis, while visiting my dear friend, Danielle Klainberg.   Through Danielle, I came to know Barbra over the next 30+ years.  Barbra was an exceptionally kind and gracious human being who is gone from this world way too soon.  My deepest condolences to her son and daughter.    God speed to her next journey.  

I met Barbra in college; and had the joy of living with her for 2 of those years.  She was my confident when I needed to vent; mother when I needed some guardrails, and true friend above all else.  When she moved in to our apartment junior year, you KNEW order and structure had finally arrived.  She brought cleaning supplies, a vacuum, nail supplies, and yes, food and diet coke.  And I will always remember those beautiful cashmere sweaters.  She was so consistent in her demeanor, priorities and values.  And old soul living with conviction despite the chaos that only comes with college life.   I will always love and respect her.  May her memory be a blessing.

My deepest condolences to all, but especially Andrew, Rachele & Matthew.  May your grief be short-lived and your wonderful memories last forever.
When I think about Barbra, I always picture her with her amazing smile, knowing look, and ready for anything attitude.  No matter what was going on, she had a plan or solution or would find one.
She was all about the other person, never about herself.  She was an amazing daughter, sister, friend and then, mother.  She left her mark with all who knew her.
She will be missed dearly by those closest to her and those who ever knew her.

We are so saddened to learn of Barbara’s passing. She was always so positive helpful, and kind whenever I saw or spoke to her.   Whether it be signing the kids up for camp, or seeing her at the store or LWA. Barbara was always smiling, and would ask how the family was doing.  Barbara  was so caring, and a Blessing to all who knew her.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her son, Andrew, family, and friends during  this extremely difficult time.
