Miss his rye humor and friendship  every time I enter the locker room at the Club

John was a truly great guy. I had the  pleasure of getting to know him
 better these last few years when he and  Carol visited Florida. I always found
him to be delightful company and so looked forward to hanging with the
Harrison’s. Carol, the class of ‘64 is here for you.  

My deepest condolences to the entire Harrison Family.   John became a confidant and dear friend prior to my retiring from the Long Beach Schools.   Subsequently, I had the pleasure of working with him, utilizing his marketing expertise beginning in 2011.   We had an excellent working relationship and enjoyed each others company.  John had a wonderful sense of humor and loved talking about sports of all kind.   Eventually, in 2013, John talked me into working at OSC as EVP of Business Development and he was right.   I had 5 wonderful years working there, and have now fully retired in Wilmington, NC with my wife Suzanne.   I will miss his warmth, honesty, and kindness.

I was informed last night of John’s passing. I was shocked and saddened about the news. Unfortunately, time and distance took its toll on our relationship and I hadn’t spoken to John in the last few years. I always thought that John would live forever. The news has saddened me immensely.
John was the perfect partner when we founded the advertising agency in the early nineties,  which eventually came to be known as HLD, Harrison Leifer DiMarco. 

John was the visionary, the guy who always looked ahead to what our next step would be, so we could grow, succeed and eventually reap the rewards of our hard work. I was the guy who worried about the day-to-day. Keeping clients happy, keeping our employees producing and hopefully having a little fun along the way.  John and I had our differences, but we never got  mad at each other to the extent of negatively affecting  the agency. We both had each other’s back, and even though there were forces that wanted to break us apart, it never happened.

My sympathies go out to John’s wife Carol and the entire Harrison family.

R.I.P. John Harrison, you were a good man.

John was always the one to light up a room. He always made me laugh, his sense of humor was second-to-none. I will always remember having the pleasure of working with him. He made the OSC holiday parties a bunch of fun with his enjoyment of dancing and laughing with all of us. A wonderful man. He will be missed. 

We will miss John, a true rock n roll guru. There were so many hours spent with John at the gym listening and singing along to the “oldies” while working out.  So smart and funny!

I am so sorry to hear of  your loss.  I have fond memories of both of you from my time at Seawane.

I'm heartbroken to learn of John's passing. He was a great leader and friend, throughout my years at HLD, then later with OSC.  John was a strong, discerning leader who valued relationships with his clients, his employees, his friends and his family. He was a great sport and loved to laugh as hard as he loved to work.  I cherished my relationship with him and I will miss him dearly. My  deepest condolences to his wonderful wife Carol,  and his beautiful family.

I've known John for over 30 years since my mother got a job at Lowell Harrison as a copywriter.  John was at my Bar Mitzvah and more recently he helped me become the marketing company that built a new website for OSC.  

John always took a warm interest in me and made me feel like I was important.  He was he tall presence with a big heart.  He'll be missed. 

I met John in 1987 when I was looking for a job as a copywriter with an agency on Long Island. John took a chance on me. Thanks to his encouragement and guidance, I became a writer. We worked in many different venues, first at his ad agency and later in the marketing department at OSC.  

At one point, I arranged for John to meet my friend Jorge Farber in his Rockaway office. Jorge was the CEO of the Madelaine Chocolate Company, and I hoped he would give our agency a chance to market his products. The meeting was going well when the intercom buzzed. 

The receptionist apologized for the interruption but asked what kind of car John drove to the factory. Uh oh. 

A car, driving over the bridge, had lost control, hit the railing and dislodged a stantion, which landed in the front seat of John Harrison's BMW. 

We rushed outside to check out the damage. John was not a happy man, to put it mildly. Jorge offered to call Brian's Auto, a reliable repair shop right nearby.

I'll never forget the look on John's face when Jorge, who has a warped sense of humor, started the conversation with the owner of the repair shop as follows: "Hi Brian. We got another one for you." 

At least we got the account.

Thirty years later, after dozens of conversations about politics, religion, writing and life, John and I had a relationship based on mutual respect. We often disagreed, but always valued each other's opinion.

My sincere condolences to Carol and the entire Harrison family. 

John will be missed by everyone whose life he touched, and there were many.



So sad.  Miss his quick wit and sensible discussions.  Every time I turn around from my locker I will expect seeing John come in from a workout. Or his waiting to the last split second to arrive at the first tee as our tee time is called.  Bless you and your family. 

Dear Carol and Family,   We have lost a best friend and wonderful companion of many , many years. John brought excitement, intelligence, balanced advice,and plenty of fun to our lives!Our time spent with him enriched our lives immeasurably and always brought sunshine to a routine day. John was special to us in a wonderful way, sensible, compassionate and just great to be with! He  had the rare ability to make every moment unique and exciting.We will always remember and cherish our good Friend, John, we will miss him!
