Betty J. Purnick (nee LaBarre) age 87, of Hammond, IN passed away with cancer on Monday, November 23, 2015. Betty is survived by two sons Charles (Doris) Purnick of Dyer and Duane (Lisa) Purnick of Portage; one daughter Cil (Tom Phalen) Purnick of New Jersey; six grandchildren Brian, Lena, Paul, Jessica, Ryan, and Amanda; and one great granddaughter. Betty was preceded in death by husband Edmund. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25 at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church of Griffith, 44 Pl. and N. Cline Avenue with Rev. Tim Powers officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday November 24 from 6-8 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland.
