Carolyn M Miles

Carolyn Marie Miles, born in Whiting and longtime resident of Highland, IN, died on Tuesday afternoon. She was 85 years old. Carolyn was born to Frederick and Thelma (Pat) Poppen on December 27, 1931. In September of 1954 she married William Adron Miles - Bill. They had two sons, Tris and Tain. She is survived by Tris, her grandchildren (Melinda and Eric, Casey, Bruce and Elizabeth,) as well as her sisters and brothers; and many, many beloved nieces, nephews, and their children. All her friends and family knew that she was one of the sweetest people they would ever meet - and not just because of her endless supply of cookies and ice cream. Aunt Carolyn’s house, where the back door was always open, was the warm, welcoming place her family flocked to for all celebrations and gatherings. Any time of year you could stop by and be met with a smile, hot cup of coffee (or a stick of gum, if you were a kid - what a treat!,) and have a seat at the festively-tableclothed kitchen table for as long as you liked. She was the world’s best listener. Her many loved ones will always remember her kindness, thoughtfulness, sense of humor, generosity, and caring spirit. Visitation will be held at KUIPER FUNERAL HOME on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. with services to follow at 11:00 a.m.
