Born on March 18, 1934 in Mapletown, PA to parents Richard and Rose Marie Fuller (Semple), Clarissa is the devoted mother of Richard, the late Karen (the late Richard Skinner), Jim (Barbara), and Eddie (Evelyn) Schwitters; grandmother to Timothy, Bethany, Karrie Anne (Craig Keepes), Alex (Lauren), Brett (Mary), DeAnna, James, Tyler, & Lacee Taylor (Josh) Fulka; and great-grandmother to Edison, Grayson, baby Sylvie, Luke, Grace, Noah, Titus, and Raine. She also leaves behind a growing legacy, including a great-granddaughter soon to be born to her cherished grandchildren, Alex and Lauren, a new light her family will carry forward. She is survived by her sisters, Jane (Mike Quint), Nancy (Bruce DeMaeyer), Carol Collori, and Sarah Kent; and was preceded in death by both parents, her loving daughter, Karen and Karen’s husband, Rick Skinner; nephew, Mikey Quint; and grandson, Timothy Schwitters.
Clarissa loved to help her clients with medical conditions through reflexology. She was constantly enhancing and reinventing her craft by attending educational events. She appreciated education and always strove for greater knowledge in the newest and latest. It is of no surprise that she also enjoyed teaching her skill of reflexology to others. Sitting still was never an option. She was always active in clubs, including, to name a few, garden club, conservation club, church Life club, political clubs, and bible reading clubs. An avid quilter, she had a room in her house wholly devoted to the hobby. She made many bedspreads and coffee table quilts over the years, and it was a joy she shared with her daughter, Karen. When out of town, they always followed the barns with the quilts on them and found local shops to purchase more material for the “next” project. She thoroughly enjoyed working in her yard with her vast gardens, which included flower gardens, a secret garden, and a reflection garden. Mom enjoyed traveling and took her family to the Poconos, PA, where she enjoyed summers growing up there. She enjoyed traveling through the Smoky Mountains en route to Hilton Head SC. She traveled to visit friends and family and to enjoy the beauty sprinkled throughout the US (as far as Hawaii!) and even parts of Europe. She had bird feeders hung all around her home, always filled with feed. She loved to watch her beautiful birds. Squirrels, though, not so much. She was definitely festive, decorating her home for each and every holiday. She also loved her hats, especially for the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed staying active by riding her bicycle with a goal of riding 1,000 miles annually. In the winters, she would swim at the local YMCA. As she believed in continuing education, she strove for her series 7 test for her stock brokers license and became a certified financial planner with IDS. From there, her and her partners decided to open their own financial services business. When she started to step away from this business, she found reflexology, in which she excelled and continued to enjoy to the last day. She grew in faith over the years. Though a piece of her heart died the day she lost her daughter, Karen, it was later filled again by the Lord. This led her to the path of Living Stones Church, which she loved attending so very much and made friends and new bonds. She helped and touched so very many people during her life, and her family would be the first to say she always moved with the attitude that there is still so much to do with the hope of making it to 100. Her 91 years of life were well-lived with many legacies and memories remaining. She will be missed by many.
