Delores Homrich Brasel

Delores Jean “Dee” (nee Homrich) Brasel, age 78, of Schererville(formerly of Griffith), passed away at home on November 20, 2010 at 1:25 AM surrounded by her husband and many family members. Delores and Noel celebrated their 60th anniversary on September 30th of this year. She is survived by her loving husband, Noel Brasel, Sr.; children: Cindy(Budd) Ballou of Lowell, Noel(Karen) Brasel, Jr, of Wheatfield, Cheryl Agent of Valparaiso, Gail Kochek of Merrillville, Becky(Joe) Helfen of Griffith, Robbin(Bill) Royal of North Judson, Glenda(Mike) Buckner of Crown Point; grandchildren: Rhett Ballou, Ben(Angela) Ballou, Jennifer, Noel , III(Kristen), and Natalie Brasel, Mandy(Mark) Shaffer, Rodney(Angela) Townsend, Kirsten Cauley, Abigail, Amy, and Aaron Kochek; Joshua(Anna) , Sarah, Dan, Elisabeth, Stephen, and Joy Helfen, Jim(Wendy), and Samantha Royal, Brianna and Jade Buckner; 14 great grandchildren; sister: Sandy(Bill) Marvel and Judy(Allan) Sawyer; sister-in-law: Dian Brasel. She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Violet Homrich, grandsons: Keven Brasel, Raymond Glenn Royal and Jeremy Royal, and sister: Patricia Morris. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd.(2 blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, Indiana with Rev. David Kime, officiating. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 3-8 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home. Delores was born and raised in Hammond. She graduated from Hammond Tech in 1950. On September 30, 1950, she married Noel at St. John Bosco Church in Hammond. They later raised their children in Griffith. They made their home in Griffith for 39 years. “My family was my world”…she said.
