Donald “Tara” Kalamir, age 71, of Valparaiso, IN passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. He is survived by his brother: Richard Kalamir of Valparaiso, IN; four nieces: Joni Almada of Merrillville, IN; Nanette (Jon) Giacomin from Columbus, OH; Nicole Kalamir of Grand Rapids, MI; Christine Kalamir of Grand Rapids, MI; sister-in-law Joan Kalamir of Merrillville, IN; and sister-in-law Marilyn Kalamir of Portage, IN. Preceded in death by his parents: Nick P. and Sarah Kalamir and brother Nicholas J. Kalamir.
Donald was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, and a United States Army Artillery Vietnam Veteran who honorably served with several medal accomplishments and a retired Operating Engineer with forty years from Local Union 150. Donald was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Valparaiso, IN. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved his German Shepard dogs. His favorite German Shepherds were Tampa and Kara. The Funeral Service will be held at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 8178 Cline Ave, Crown Point, IN on Friday, June 14, 2019 with grave site service starting at 11:30 am.
