Irene Lucas

Irene Lucas (nee Davitian), age 87, of Highland, IN, passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side Tuesday, December 20, 2016. She is survived by her four children: Elmo Lucas, Laura (David) Baker, Linda (David) Miller and Diane (James) Brown; nine grandchildren: Julie, Lucas and Haylie Baker, Melissa, Joshua and Jason Miller, Austin, Aaron and Caroline Brown; brother, Richard (late Janet) Davitian; sister, Ida (Robert) Heine; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lucas; parents: Armen and Mary Davitian; sister, Rose (Lester) Lucas; and brother, Walter Davitian. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home with Rev. Joan Mier, officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn memorial gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Mrs. Lucas was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Merrillville, IN. She enjoyed watching sports, reading and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
