James Willie Dilworth

James Willie Dilworth, age 51, of Gary, IN, was called home on Saturday, April 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. James was born on September 25, 1972 in Gary, IN, to Ella L. Carter and James W. Dilworth. He was a life-long Gary resident. He enjoyed playing poker, watching his Chicago Cubs and spending time with his family. James was a kind and loving soul who never wanted to see anyone suffer. He was quick to make a joke or laugh, but also the first to tell everyone how special they were. To know him was to love him. He met his wife, Christina, at Rays in 1998 and in 1999, they became inseparable. They were blessed with a son, James, and a daughter, Catherine. Later on, they were gifted a bonus child, Emilio, who was their child in every way that mattered. They would have enjoyed 25 wonderful years together this July. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella L. Carter; his father, James W. Dilworth; his uncle, Walter Sherman; and many other aunts and uncles. James is survived by his mother of the heart, Catherine Sherman; aunt, Betty Summerhill; wife, Christina San Miguel; sons, James C. Dilworth and Emilio Cuevas; and daughter; Catherine Dilworth; sisters, Alethia (Darren) Donald, Felicia (Preston) Baldwin, Elanor Montgomery, and Angela Dilworth; and brothers, Edward (Victoria) Montgomery and Jim (Mandie) Dilworth. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Visitation for James will take place on Saturday, April 13th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Avenue, Highland, IN 46322.
