James "Jim" L. Hogge “Poppy”, age 83 of Griffith, passed away peacefully September 16, 2013 surrounded by his family. James is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; three children: Connie (Dean) Haney, Joe (Judy) Hogge, and Judy (Kurt) Hoopingarner; six grandchildren: Kristina, Melissa, Jayce, Jeremy, T.J., and Jacob; five great grandchildren: Taylor, Hayley, Ryan, Carly, and Little Jeremy; one sister, Bobby Jennings of FL. James was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the American Legion Post 66. He was retired from the Teamsters Local 142. After he retired, he worked for the Dyer Car Auction for over 10 years. Poppy loved to spend time with his grandchildren, great grandkids and family. He always had a smile on his face. He also loved listening to and playing his music. Private family services will be held. Cremation to follow. James was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
