Jean Crawford

Jean Elizabeth (Dawson) Crawford, 96, went home in the loving arms of Jesus Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at home in Highland, IN surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born in Litchfield, MI on November 16, 1925 to Theo and Gladys (Andrus) Dawson. She was the oldest member of the United Methodist Church in Griffith. She enjoyed attending church and belonging to her Bible study group. Jean loved her husband, and she was a loving mother, a good friend to many people, and a crossword puzzle expert. She loved boating, camping and snowmobiling. She worked in the school cafeteria for years. Last but not least she was a Bingo and Bunco queen.

Jean is survived by her children: Larry (Diane) Crawford who supported her independence and cared for her in their own home more recently; Frank (Robin) Crawford of Lambertville, MI; Ted (Barb) Crawford of Muncie, IN; and Denny Carlile of Logansport, IN. Her grandchildren: Gui DeReamer, Shay DeReamer, Mike Crawford, Eric Crawford, Sara Eddy, Molly Reidy, Andrew Crawford, Jennifer Chambers, Kristin Sturges, John Crawford and Robert Crawford. Numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Two sisters; Marna (J.D.) Farmer out of Brighton, MI, and Kathline (Robert) Snyder of the Villages, FL, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert L. Crawford; her vivacious daughter, Gloria Carlile; her two brothers L.J. Dawson and Warren Dawson; and her two sisters Barbara Barker and June Kaiser.

A visitation for Jean will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd, Highland, Indiana 46322, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM officiated by Pastor Bill Jones. Burial will follow immediately after at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN.
