Jennetta Ruth Petrukitas

Jennetta Ruth (Brenton) Petrukitas, age 95, of Highland, IN passed away on January 6, 2017. She was born on August 12, 1921 on a farm in Pike County, Indiana, the fourth child of the late Perry and Mary (Huey) Brenton. She graduated from Mount Olympus High School in southern Indiana, took a year of business classes, and then moved to northwest Indiana. She married Justin Petrukitas, who passed away on October 25, 2010. Jennetta received a nursing degree from Purdue Calumet and worked at St. Margaret's hospital in Hammond, Indiana and as a private duty nurse. Jennetta most enjoyed her family, friends, job, gardening, reading, travel, puzzles, and crosswords, and always saw the cup as half full, not half empty. She is survived by two sons: John (Pat) Petrukitas of CO and James (Rhonda) Petrukitas of LaPorte, IN; two daughters: Vicki Dwyer of LaPorte, IN and Justine (David) Rumas of Highland, IN; seven grandchildren: James (Jane) Littiken; Elizabeth Ann (Nick) Acosta, Rob (Leigh) Littiken, Peter (Tina) Petrukitas, Jeremy Rumas, Nick (Shin-ae) Rumas and Justin (Hayley) Dwyer; step grandchildren, James (Jane) Dwyer, Jr. and Patrick Dwyer. Six great grandchildren: Brandi, Joseph, Casey, Meagan, Taylor and Owen, step great grandchild, Jasmine. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 10:30 am at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN. Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemeteries, Hammond, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 13 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
