Joan Ray Strbiak

Joan Ray Strbiak (nee Lunsford), age 79 of Munster, IN, formerly of Robertsdale passed away on December 6, 2014. Joan is survived by her two sons Mark (Heather) Strbiak of Seattle, WA and Kyle (Julie) Strbiak of Munster; proud grandmother of Natasha, Carli, and Jenna Strbiak. She is also survived by her two brothers, William (Tula) Lunsford of Munster and Michael (Shari) Lunsford of Gainesville, GA; brother-in-law Michael (Helen) Strbiak of Whiting; sister-in-law Cecelia (late Stan) Shepkowski of Griffith; several nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Cyril Strbiak. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland (two blocks south of Ridge Road). Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 10:30 am with Br. Brian Boyle, CPPS officiating. Cremation will follow. Joan graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught in several local school districts and she was a former employee of American Trust & Savings Bank in Whiting. Joan enjoyed reading, classical music, ballroom dancing and singing in the choir.
