

Karen’s life was defined by her kindness, her strength, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Gloria Krejci; as well as her siblings, Emil Krejci, Jr., Michael Krejci, and Linda Roark.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Brown, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership, laughter, and love. She was a proud and caring mother to her daughters, Terri (Glenn) Laski and Kelly (Shaun) Hoekstra, and her grandchildren, Blake (Kaili) Mezo, Kaitlyn Mezo, Dylan Hoekstra, and Jackson Hoekstra, who will forever remember her guidance, warm hugs, and endless support.
She is also survived by her siblings, David (Lila) Krejci, Thomas (Thelma) Krejci, Joann (Gene) Sullivan, Kathy Walter, Mary (Brian) Light, Peggy Walter, Richard (Carrie) Krejci, Gary (Barbara) Krejci, Angela Hontz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karen’s legacy lives on through her family, her friendships, and all who were touched by her generous spirit. She will be remembered for her big heart, her love of casinos, her years of traveling the country in their RV, and spending time with her family.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love will remain with her family always.
Visitation for Karen will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., also at Kuiper Funeral Home. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Ridgelawn Mount Mercy Cemetery in Gary, IN.
