Kathryn R. Elish

Kathryn Elish, age 92, of East Chicago, passed away January 17, 2011. She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Elish of Crown Point; one son, Nick (Maryann) Elish of Highland; grandchildren: Katie, Jessica, and Nicholas Elish; one sister, Lindy Neff of Ohio; one sister-in-law, Jean Cann of Ohio; one brother-in-law, George (Lois) Elish of Highland; nieces and nephews; one granddog, Gracie; longtime friends: Jane Kaske, Helen Horvath, and Angeletta Moyett; special friends and care givers: Estella Magallanes, her daughter, Josephina, and the entire Magallanes family. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Julius Elish; and daughter, Roberta Elish. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN with Rev. Pete Ward officiating. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 3:00- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Kate was a member of the Whiting United Methodist Church, member of Indiana Harbor Women's Club, past president of East Chicago Emblem Club, Garden Club, life member of the Eastern Star of Ohio, a homemaker, and retired from St. Catherine Hospital X-Ray Department. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Whiting United Methodist Church or Dalmatian Rescue of Illinois. Kate was a very kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
