Smit, Larry W. Age 72, of Gary, IN, passed away July 25, 2011. Wife, Trena (nee Huizinga) of 52 years; one son, Terry (Debbie) Smit of Griffith, IN; three daughters, Linda (Stanton) Visser of Iowa, Debbie (Jason) Hubers of South Dakota, Diane (Tim) Bakker of Illinois; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Ceigh Bree Watson (Rockford Holmes) of Hawaii. Preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Henrietta Smit; two brothers, John and Lou Smit. Funeral services Thursday, 10:00a.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Peter Oh. Burial Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman (2 blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland. He was a member of the Beacon Light Christian Reformed Church. Retired Smitty's Tree Service. Former owner of the Riverside Mobile Home Park.
