Norinne J. Chicki has rejoined, her husband, Alex A. with Jesus, after a 27 year wait. Norinne passed peacefully at Springbrook Nursing and Rehab Center in Clayton, North Carolina on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Norinne is survived by her sister, Marjeanne Walsh of FL; son, Stephen and wife, Cheryl Chicki, of North Carolina; former Daughter in Law, Debbie of Indiana; lifelong friend, Pauline Stevens of Indiana; 3 grandsons Stephen and Kristie,Timothy and Alicia, and Jeffery and Jacqueline, all of Indiana; 4 Great grandsons, Noah, Caleb, Brandon, and Simon, all of Indiana; 7 Great Granddaughters, Alexandra, Cailey, Samantha, Lexi, Melanie and Arrianna of Indiana, and Brooke of Mississippi, 1 Great Great Grandson, Brice of Mississippi ; as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews Born on June 3,1928, Norinne grew up in Hammond, IN, daughter of Robert and Lucille Longanecker with her sisters Marjeanne and Roberta. She attended Edison Grade School and graduated Hammond High School in June, 1946. Norinne went on to attend and graduate St. Catherine Nursing School with her lifelong friend Pauline. She met Alex and they were married by the Reverend Robert Wise at St. Thomas Moore Church on August 20th, 1949. Norinne was active in Nursing in Northwest Indiana and a member of St. Catherine’s Alumni Association. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hammond, IN; one of the founding members of Saint Thomas Moore Church in Munster, IN, and a member of Saint James Parish in Highland, IN. While at St. James, Norinne was active in assistance at the parsonage and a member of the Choir. Norinne loved to Travel and visited much of continental United States, Hawaii, and the Bahamas. Fishing was her relaxation, and enjoyed her trips to Canada for Small mouth Bass, catching Bluegill in her backyard on Brendel Lake in Michigan, and most recently dropping a line off the Dock in Punta Gorda, FL. She played Golf and shot on a mixed and women’s league at Briar Ridge in Schererville, and in Punta Gorda, Fl. Always up for a party, Norinne loved her time on Brendel Lake, where several Pontoon Boats would tie up together in the evenings and fish and swim; but her specialty really shined during the Holidays! No one could compete with a throw down feast and Christmas Celebration at their house like Norinne. What she really enjoyed the most was time spent with family, and especially with her Husband. Sadly, she never overcame the loss of Alex. Mom, Enjoy your time with Dad in Heaven now for all of Eternity. We who are left will miss you.
