Peter J. Auksel

Peter J. Auksel, 47 of Highland, IN passed away peacefully on July 22, 2016 at Northwestern Hospital. He graduated Highland H.S. 1988 and Purdue University 1995. He worked 20 years as Director of Safety at USS, Keter consultants and Phoenix LLC. Peter is survived by his parents, Peter D Auksel and Carolyn M. Auksel (Sunny) of St Pete Beach, FL, sister Cheri Auksel-Sliwa and brother-in-law Mike Sliwa of Highland, IN. Also nephew Matthew Byquist and Samantha Byquist, uncle James Auksel, aunt Chris Auksel, cousin Sandy Plott and several other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Ethel Auksel, John and Katherine Sunny, uncles Ervin and Larry Auksel. Peter was a member of the Elks #981, Calumet Region Sportsmanship Committee, North Township Board, Purdue Alumni and various political organizations. Pete was an avid Chicago Black Hawks and Cubs fan, loved to golf and fish. He had several friends and was well liked throughout the entire area. Peter was loved and will be missed by many, but not forgotten, because of his outgoing personality and kindness. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. (Wake service at 4:00 p.m.) at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Ave., Highland, IN with Rev. Keith Virus officiating.
