

Richard D. Wright, Sr., a beloved and cherished man of God, passed on to glory on October 11, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on May 19, 1940, in Hammond, IN, Richard was a faithful, brave, and compassionate individual known for his generous and gentle nature. He was a resident of Crown Point, IN, and leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, devotion, and faith.
Richard attended Hammond High School, graduating in 1958. He was a beloved dad, gramps, great-gramps, great-great-gramps, and a child of the one true King Jesus. A faithful prayer warrior and dedicated servant of the Lord God Jehovah, Richard's life was a testament to his unwavering faith.
In his early years, Richard served four years in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He was employed with UPS until his retirement in 1997 and worked in shipping and receiving and pantry at K-Mart in St. John, IN for five years. Richard also dedicated 15 years to mowing 20 lawns in his neighborhood, showcasing his hard-working and honest character.
Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Oakley; his father, Clyde O. Wright; his mother, Marie Viola Wright (nee Bashore); his brother, Terry Wright; his sister, Lynda McCoy; and his Grandma and Grandpa Bashore. He is survived by his children, Carla Eggerton, Greta Wright, Keith (Tona) Suiter, Rich (JoAnn) Wright, and Lisa Ann Wright. He leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren, Paul (Sarai), Amanda (Ernie), and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Alorah (Joey), Amaylie, Kaleb, Zadin, Liam, Isom, Lena, Aylah, and Eliana Grace; and his great-great-grandchildren, baby Joey, and another precious blessing on the way; and many extended family members. Special recognition to Marian Parson and Mataya Pineda for their love.
Richard loved his church and church family, enjoyed listening to music, praying, and eating his family's home-cooked meals. He was an avid supporter of Israel, helped the homeless, and was known for his kindness towards neighbors, including a special neighbor, Dorothy Dudak. Richard enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting antiques, and refurbishing them.
Richard believed deeply in the power of prayer, especially in the power of Jesus Christ. He prayed diligently for his family's safety and salvation, leaving behind a legacy of faith and devotion to Jesus for all to follow.

Visitation will be held October 30, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN, 46322, followed by a funeral service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A committal service will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN, on October 23, 2025, from 2:00 to 2:15 p.m.
Richard D. Wright, Sr. lived a life of faith, humility, and grace. His legacy will continue to shine through the prayers, love, and faith of all who were blessed to know him.
