Robert V. "Bob" Fitzgibbon, formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away April 11, 2021 at his home in Schererville, IN surrounded by family. Bob is survived by his wife, Helen (Cox) Fitzgibbon, brother Joseph Fitzgibbon, his children Gary (Erin) Fitzgibbon, Robin (Richard) Gettings, Tracey Fitzgibbon, Dorelle Goon, and Wendy Carpenter, his step-children Nancy (Vic) Stathis, Barbara Short, Joanna (Gerard) Holmes, Janet (Kevin) McGrath, and Mary (Kenneth) Foster. Bob is also survived by his four grandsons (Michael, Robert, Greg, and Matthew), six great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Bob moved to Albuquerque in 1961 and proceeded to engage in many different enterprises as a small business owner. For many years he was a General Contractor working at his own company named Shamrock Five Construction. Bob served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Robert V Fitzgibbon, age 93, of Schererville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. Robert was born February 14, 1928 in Easton, PA to the late Joseph and Mary (O'Malley) Fitzgibbon.
Family and friends may gather from 9AM - 9:30AM on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. Andrew the Apostle, 801 W 73rd Ave, Merrillville, IN 46410. Rev. Pat Gaza will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 9:30AM at the church. Burial will take place following the funeral at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery - 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421.
