Maraea worked as a civilian secretary for the U.S. Navy and later in life worked for the former Continental Airlines and Westinghouse, serving with joy and love for all who fell within her care. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Joseph Quon Hee Chun.
Maraea is survived by her sons, Alfred (Helen) Chun of Hilo, Hawaii, and Paul (Janine) Chun of Perth, Australia; and by her brother, Rodney (Pearl) Haili of Hilo, Hawaii. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Viewing and service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 522 Ponahawai St, Hilo, HI 96720, on March 26, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00pm. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, 388 Ponahawai Street, Hilo at 12 noon.
