

He retired as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Crawford & Company, an international corporation with 700 offices and over 10,000 employees worldwide.
Mr. Meyers is a Chattanooga native, after playing football for the University of Georgia and graduating from Tennessee Tech in 1959 his first corporate assignment was in his hometown. He went on to manage Crawford branch offices in Danville, Virginia; Greensboro, North Carolina; and Washington, D.C., before moving to the corporate headquarters in Atlanta.
He made the move to corporate management as President of one of the company's strategic business units where he assumed operational control of more than 400 domestic office locations.
He was later appointed by the Board as President and Chief Operating Officer of the corporation, and subsequently named Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.
He has lectured worldwide on organizational structure and business management, and also authored several books and taught corporate classes on effective management practices.
Meyers served as an officer and board member of social, fraternal, and business organizations in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Most recently, he served as chairman of the Chattanooga State Foundation.
He was a member and chair of several committees at First Baptist Church in Chattanooga. An avid hunter and fisherman, he built his retirement home on Hamilton Island in Harrison, Tennessee where he spent many days on the water and woodworking in his workshop in his later years.
Mr. Meyers was preceded in death by his parents, Archie L. Meyers, Sr. and Lucille Goodman Meyers.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Meyers, children, Tracey (Brian) Krase and Chip (Katie) Meyers, granddaughters, Carolyn Meyers and Stephanie Meyers.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 Friday, September 8 at Chattanooga First Baptist Church funeral services will follow at 1:30. Interment will follow in Forrest Hills Cemetery.
