Arthur Marvin Yother, age 94, was born on February 12, 1931, to Wilson and Gallie Yother. Raised on his cherished Mowbray Mountain, Arthur maintained a special connection to his roots throughout his life. He worked hard every day and was proud to graduate from Mowbray Tech as a child. Anytime Mowbray Tech was mentioned throughout his life, Arthur’s heart swelled with pride, and he would sing his alma mater song, “Mowbray, Mowbray on the mountain, way up in the sky,” with his unmistakable singing voice.
During his time on Mowbray, Arthur met the love of his life, Nella Dean (Boone) Taylor, whom he cherished as his “Soddy Daisy Queen” for 75 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in unwavering love and a shared commitment to creating a family centered on faith in Jesus Christ. Although challenges arose, Arthur and Boone exemplified perseverance, passion, and dedication to each other and their family.
Arthur loved his family deeply and worked hard to provide for them. He dedicated 32 years of service to Combustion Engineering before embarking on a successful entrepreneurial journey in the automotive, real estate, and business sectors. Arthur was a beacon of kindness on and off the job, never meeting a stranger and forming friendships and relationships with everyone he encountered. Arthur was a faithful member of New Vision Worship Center, and his love for Jesus was evident. Arthur shared his passion for Jesus through song, frequently singing his heartfelt favorite, “Have a Little Talk with Jesus,” and spoke about Jesus until his final hours.
Arthur experienced the favor of the Lord and embraced the joys of family. Arthur and his beloved bride raised three sons: Larry (Donna), Ronnie (Sandy), and Jerry (Tammy). They were blessed with seven grandchildren: Josh (Jodi), Abbie (Clint), Mandy, Chad (Mandi), Miranda (Jacob), Jennifer (Michael), and Taylor (Kaley), as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Arthur is preceded in death by his wife, Nella Dean (Boone) Yother; his parents, Wilson and Gallie Yother; six brothers; two sisters; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A celebration of Arthur’s life will begin with a visitation on Sunday, November 16, from 2-6 PM and a celebration of life service on Monday, November 17, at 1:00 PM at the Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, 5401 TN-HWY 153.
