Barbara was born in Soddy and was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. She was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and retired from Boyd Buchanan with over 20 years of service. Barbara was a member of Tyner Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James William and Sarah Jane Petty Smith; siblings, Faye Hatfield, Newel Smith and “Mookie” Smith.
Barbara is survived by her children, Rene Arthur and spouse Shannon, Vickie Lynn Semegran and Jack L. Baker and spouse Monique; grandchildren, Diana Semegran, Landon and Nolan Baker; siblings, Sue Smith, Larry Smith, Betty Ruth Parker and Bill Smith; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Friday and 2 to 3 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel.
A graveside service will follow on Saturday at 3 pm at the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Minister John Cupp officiating.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Barbara’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 8, Chattanooga, TN 37421, American Heart Association, 519 E. 4th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37403 or to Boyd Buchanan School, 4626 Bonny Way Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
