It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara, who left this world on 11/17/2023. She was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of all that were blessed to know her.
Born in Chicago on December 31, 1949 Barbara was the first of nine children born to Victor and Shirley Root. From an early age, Barbara displayed a remarkable talent for making people laugh while sharing her infectious laughter with all those around her. She cultivated and shared that laughter throughout her life. She was known for her kind spirit, unwavering compassion, and deep love of her family.
Professionally, Barbara blossomed into an insurance contract analysis/data manager that perfectly aligned with her innate desire to help others. She was known for her unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of everyone she helped. Barbara had an immeasurable impact on the world around her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara was a devoted and cherished family member.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Carl, her son Daniel, her father Victor, her sister Vickie, and her brother Victor Jr.
Barbara is survived by her children Greg, Jeff, and Stacy, her mother Shirley, her sisters Linda , Darlene, Judy, Cindy, and Kathy, and her brother Charlie. Barbara was a caring and nurturing grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Her love and support knew no bounds, and she always went above and beyond to ensure the happiness and well-being of her loved ones. Her memory will surely live on forever.
Barbara’s departure has left an immense void in our hearts. We will find solace in celebrating the beautiful life she lived and knowing she is now with Carl cheering on their beloved Tennessee Vols together once again.
Viewing will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, 5401 Hwy 153, Hixson, TN on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2023 at 4:00-7:00PM, and WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2023 at 10:00-12:00PM. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER, 22, 2023 at 12:00. Committal service will be after the funeral at 1:30PM at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave. Chattanooga, TN.
