Mrs. Hawkins was a gifted seamstress and a dedicated homemaker in her beloved home of 56 years on Signal Mountain. She was the wife of career FBI agent M. Jay Hawkins and the daughter of Solon Finley and Mary Elizabeth Snoddy Richardson.
Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Finley Richardson, and sister, Margaret Richardson Hunter.
Survivors include daughter, Deborah Hawkins, of San Diego, CA; daughter, Joan (Mark) Floyd, of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Floyd (Béla Személy), Catherine Barnes, Christopher Barnes, and Michael Barnes; and sister, Mary Walker, of Fayetteville, TN.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, 612 James Boulevard, Signal Mountain conducted by the Rev. Margaret Ferguson. Burial will precede the service at Chattanooga Memorial Park at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
