He was a member of Delashmitt Road Baptist Church. Charles was born in Haleyville, Alabama. He graduated from Phil Campbell High School and Auburn University with a degree in electrical engineering.
Charles was an engineer with TVA for over 40 years. He loved to garden and read. He was happiest when he was with his family and helping others.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Gladys Rice.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Rice; son, Shaun (Summer) Rice; daughter, Meredith (Jesse) Cordell; granddaughters, Ashlyn and Sami Rice; grandson, Taylor Cordell; sisters, Connie (Jerry) Albright and Donna Oliver; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Thursday March 6, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
