Clara Goodwin Hill Elliott

Clara was a 1936 graduate of City High School and a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hallie Mae and Myron Goodwin; husbands, Lt. Colonel David A. Hill, Jr. and Richard C. Elliott; daughter, Linda Hill Mason; sister, MaryBell Goodwin Harbin; brothers, Myron Goodwin, Horace Goodwin and Robert Goodwin.

Clara is survived by her son, Steve R. Hill (Vicki); daughter, Sally Hill Varner (Richard); son-in-law, C. Lee Mason; grandchildren, David Mason, Matthew Varner (Elisha), Katy Hill Harmon (Mike), Laura Varner Brady (Scott) and Carrie Ellen Hill; great grandchildren, Maya and Eliot Varner, Clara Beth Brady, Benjamin Mason and Ellison Harmon; brothers, William Goodwin of Franklin, TN, David Goodwin of Chattanooga and Richard Goodwin of Lexington, SC; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Morning Point Hixson, Caris Hospice Care and her caregiver, Wanda Carpenter for the support and love given to Clara during her illness. You all treated our mother with such love and dignity, we are so grateful to each of you.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Clara will be held at 11:30 am on Friday at National Cemetery with Dr. David Harr officiating.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Clara’s name to Wallys’ Friends, 155 Unaka Street, Chattanooga, TN 37415.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
