

Clarence "Burr" Francis Beavers, Jr., 87, of Chattanooga, passed into the presence of his Heavenly Father Friday, December 5, 2014. He was a long time member of Calvary Bible Church and more recently a member of Hixson First Baptist Church.
Mr. Beavers was a lifetime member of Local Chapter Telephone Pioneers of America, where he served several terms as president. In 2005 he received the Claude Gist Memorial Award for volunteer service to the Chattanooga Golden Gloves. In 2010 Mr. Beavers was inducted into the Greater Chattanooga Area Sports Hall of Fame for his boxing accomplishments. In 2010 he was inducted into the Red Bank High School Hall of Fame.
Mr. Beavers was preceded in death by his mother, Bertie Lee Howard, his wives, Betty Gene Lawson Beavers and Barbara Braly Beavers, and his brother Gerald Beavers. Mr. Beavers is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Claude) Walker and Cynthia (Chuck) Baker; grandchildren, Michael Harper and Jonathan (Amy) Baker; great grandchildren, Garrett and Rachael Harper and Behr and Ava Baker; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held today from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Myron Wilkins, Pastor Bill Henry, and Pastor Terry Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Members of the Telephone Pioneers and the John Alvis Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the health care professionals who attended Mr. Beavers.
