

Clyde Lewis Jacobs, 76, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Beth Hasty Jacobs, two daughters, Barbara Jacobs (Greg) Russell and Sandra Jacobs (Pat) Hubbs, son, David Alan (Sharon) Jacobs, and stepson, Samuel Parks (Connie) Hall IV, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Goldie Johnson Jacobs and Clyde Cecil Jacobs, and stepdaughter, Deann Hall Smith.
Clyde Jacobs was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on August 10, 1934. He moved with his parents to Chattanooga and graduated from Central High School in 1952. He has lived on Signal Mountain, Tennessee, since 1965.
He served in the United Stated Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He graduated from the University of Chattanooga. He had a long career as a mechanical engineer at Combustion Engineering and retired in 1992.
He was presently a member of Signal Mountain Baptist Church and a former long-time member of Signal Crest United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed wood-working, reading, traveling, and helping others. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Appalachian Service Project, and helped build the Pumpkin Patch playground on Signal Mountain. He has worked with the Y-Indian Guides, the Boys Baseball League, and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
