He was preceded in death by his parents, Randall L Doyle and Mildred P Witt, and his brother, Daniel M Doyle. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra L Hill, his daughter, Sarah M Doyle (Matt R Sharlike), his son, Joshua D Doyle (Cameron E Schlegel), three precious granddaughters whom he adored, Ryan, Austin, and Marion, his niece, Nichole, and several cousins.
A lifelong resident of Hixson, Randy attended Hixson High School and the University of Chattanooga. He worked at several companies, including Brock & Blevins and Marlboro Enterprises, before starting his own construction firm, YB Industrial, which he ran for several years. He subsequently worked at Conoco before retiring from the Hixson Walmart.
Randy was devoted to his family and was very involved in his children’s activities, serving as assistant coach of the Dixie Darlings softball team, coaching soccer teams, and preparing for spelling competitions. He was very active in his children’s school, Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, and remained a staunch supporter and advocate for the school even after their graduation.
Randy loved reading and history, and delighted in regaling his family with stories of his days working in construction all over the country. He was a lifelong collector, with a special interest in coins and currency. He could be counted on to give his honest opinion, and was a valued advisor and mentor to colleagues, friends, and family. He will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, January 10, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Randy’s life will follow at 3 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel. Burial will be in Hixson City Cemetery.
