Donald Pruett Calhoun, 89, of Waynesville, NC, passed away Saturday August 10, 2024 in Hixson, TN. He was born in Waynesville, NC to the late Joseph Alexander and Callie Pruett Calhoun. He received his
BS degree from NC State University. He retired from TVA as a safety engineer. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, woodworking, lawn care, golf, church and loved children and babies. The most important thing to him was always his family.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Henderson Calhoun and his 10 brothers and sisters (Paul, Sam, Joe, Minnie, Kate, Mary, Ruth, Billie, Myrtle, and Dot).
He is survived by his daughters Donna Lane Calhoun (James, Jr. Eddy) Edwards and Laura Lynn Calhoun Hurley (Zach); grandchildren, James C. Edwards, III (Trey), Emily Lane Edwards, and Hamilton Alexander (Alex) McClimans.
His ashes will be placed in Waynesville, NC. (The most beautiful place on earth to him).
A reception for him will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 19 th, at Hazelwood Baptist Church in Waynesville, NC. All friends and family are invited and encouraged to attend.
