

Ed retired from Jake Marshall Plumbing and was a proud member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 43.
He was married to the love of his life, Mary Ellen Dent, for 64 wonderful years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eula and Clarence Dent; his brothers, Earl Dent, Carlos Dent, and Gary Dent; his sister, Elisabeth Williams; his son, Larry Dent; his daughter, Donna Cranfield; and his granddaughters, Shannon Dent, Brandy Cranfield, and Miranda Marler.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Fred) Agee and Angela (Mark) McLaughlin; his son-in-law, Jimmy Cranfield; his grandchildren, Larry (Robin) Dent, Chad (Mimi) Marler, Aleasha (Tyler) Henry, Amanda (Chad) Voytik, Zach (Tracey) McLaughlin, and Josh (Carlee) Cranfield; as well as 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ed will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his strong work ethic, the quiet strength that carried him through life, and the legacy that will continue through generations. While he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Lord.
The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist – North Chapel, on Tuesday, April 28th. 2026, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. The funeral service will be in the chapel at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
