

Ed was born in Decatur, Georgia to Edwin Lee Markert Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Willis Markert. He retired from TVA after many years of dedicated service. Ed was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church, where he served as Treasurer of the Friendship Sunday School Class, and in the video ministry. Ed volunteered with the Partnership for Children & Family Services, and also taught computer classes at HaCoBa Care Ministries.
He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents, and a son, Steven Lee Markert.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Mae Markert, daughters, Terri (Doug) Baker, and Joy (Rick) Marler; 5 grandchildren, Chase (Ashley) Holder, Aimee (Seth) Floyd, Katie Duggan, Stacey Nolan, and Alan Rambo; 8 great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Bill Owens conducting the chapel service. There will be a private graveside interment officiated by Dr. Doug Plumlee. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions that are currently mandated by the State of Tennessee there will be no public visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Big Oak Boys Ranch PO Box 507, Springville, AL 35146.
