

Emmitt was born and raised in Calhoun, Georgia to the late Levi Harrison and Madeline Gilbert Williams. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II with Patton’s Third Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Emmitt continued to serve our community as a fire fighter with the Chattanooga Fire Department where he retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 5146. Emmitt was a 32nd degree mason, 60 year member of the Fidelity Masonic Lodge # 558 F&AM, the Chattanooga Scottish Rite and the Alhambra Shrine Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lois Moore Williams; son, Larry Ogle Williams; great grandson, Kingston Ryan Flavin.
Emmitt is survived by his children, Sidney (Brenda) Williams, Doyle (Sandy) Williams, Joel Williams, and Barry (Dale) Wilson; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild;
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday and 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Thursday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will follow at 1:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home with his son, Reverend Doyle K. Williams officiating.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alhambra Shrine Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati or Hospice of Chattanooga.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
