He was born in Bakewell, TN to the late Thomas and Etta Bryant. Eugene served our country in the United States Navy in the Amphibious Force on the 285 LST-1049 and the USS Gulfpoint Oil Tanker. He was a World War II veteran serving in Normandy, D-Day and was honored with dinner with Eleanor Roosevelt. He retired from Signal Portland Cement Company as a general foreman. Eugene was a faithful member for over 20 years at Calvary Baptist Church in Red Bank. He loved spending time with his family and going to church. He always had a smile and loved talking to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Nancy Bryant;
Eugene is survived by his children, Randall (Billie) Bryant, and Renee’ (Fred) White; grandchildren, Lisa (Ray) Johnson, and Michelle (Gary) Tallent; great grandchildren, Jacob (McClain) Tallent, Madison (Bryant Howard) Tallent, Austin Hickey, and Sydney Hickey; great great granddaughter, Aubree Howard; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, July 1, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Eugene’s life will follow at 1 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Dwight Martin, Chris Ware and Greg Powell officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
