Fred Jackson Jr.

He was a graduate of Daisy High School and The University of Chattanooga. He served his country in the Army in World War II as a surgeon’s assistant.

He retired in 1979 from The Hamilton County School System as the Principal at Alpine Crest Elementary School.

He was a member for 85 years, treasurer and deacon of Falling Water Baptist Church and a member of The Men’s Bible Class.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sallie Ashley Jackson; his beloved first wife, Frances; brothers, George, Terrell, Clark and Marvin..

He is survived by his wife, Jane Griffith Jackson; son, Fred Jackson, III and grandson, James Frank “J.F.” of Blacksburg, VA; brother, Stanley (Jean) of Hixson; sister, Mary (Bob) Shoupe of Spartanburg, SC., Martha (Lamar) Carter of Hixson; sister-in-law, Bette (Joe) Cook of Hixson; and several loved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday and 12 (noon) to 1 on Thursday at the North Chapel.

Services for Fred will be held at 1 PM on Thursday at the North Chapel with Rev. Bob Dasal and Rev. Tommy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The Men’s Bible Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Fred’s name to Hospice of Chattanooga or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
